2.0 REVIEW: A must watch entertainer! Chirag Shah, November 29, 2018September 26, 2019 Without waisting time, lets jump into the technicalities! The VFX! Indian cinema now has a film that they can be proud of when it comes to the level of VFX, and other forms of computer related graphics! Not once does it seem unreal or “too much”. That is undoubtedly the strength of the movie, and it works for a film like this. Alongside that, the camera angles genuinely go with the type of mood that the director, Shankar, is trying to create. He definitely succeeds! One other angle worth noticing is how this film has been shot keeping the 3D experience in mind. From the credit sequence, till the end, both the VFX, the animation and the camera angles add to the 3D experience. So from a visual and technical perspective this film is magnificent. The sound design and production design also deserve a thumbs up. The editing is smooth as well. The acting is not necessarily something that stands out since the scale of the film in general overpowers the acting, however superstar Rajnikanth and Akshay Kumar add great value to the film. There isn’t much acting beyond one-liners and certain expressions when required, but perhaps this film didn’t demand much on that front. When it comes to the story, it is no doubt imaginative. That right there deserves appreciation. At a day and age where we want meaning and purpose to everything, here is a film that just tries to be imaginative and fun. It is simple, yet complex. That is what makes this film special. Yes, we can nitpick and say that the reason behind the villains act of vengeance is definitely extreme and not very convincing, however we can also appreciate how the film brings a noteworthy message about how human life is not the only life worth valuing. In fact, for a film like this to attach itself to a message, while remaining entertaining, is an impressive feat! One may not expect a screenplay with much depth, and indeed that is lacking, but this film is not the type of film that works on screenplay alone. This is like a spectacle, where all elements of the filmmaking process play an important role in enhancing the product. No doubt, there are many silly moments, however that can be forgiven, since this film creates a tone where it is not meant to be taken too seriously. It’s all for fun! Obviously science does not work the way this film claims, but that doesn’t matter. All I know is that I had a good time, and to make a film like this requires a lot of passion, hard work and dedication. Overall, if you want to be entertained, then go for this film. You won’t regret it! Rating: 4.5 Stars! Movie Reviews
