CHASKA -Horror Short Film -REVIEW: A twisted little horror flick. CineEye, June 22, 2019September 26, 2019 CHASKA |Horror Short Film | REVIEW: A twisted little horror flick. An innocent child has been an integral part of many horror flicks. This short film, CHASKA, takes the innocence of a child, and twists it to a bizarre level. Such horror flicks are meant to keep you hooked, while creating a sense of mystery. It is meant to keep you curious and meant to provoke. Such films end with questions like “why?” and “how?”, but that’s the point. This film succeeds at pushing you towards one direction, and then shocking you in the final moments. We never expect the short film to take this drastic turn, but it works its own way. Without giving away the plot, I’ll just say that this film is well made. The direction, the writing and the shot taking is impressive, along with the performances. Everyone is natural. There is a slice of life feel, without many dialogues, but there is a consistent graph throughout the 12 minutes and 30 seconds. The time lapse of the days has been shown in a creative way. Nothing is spoon-fed and we are meant to think on our own, and come up with our own conclusion. The camera movement seems well planned. The sound design and the editing is competent. Overall a well-made short film. At only 12 minutes and 30 seconds, you get your dose of thrill. It is clear that effort went into making this since it isn’t your usual horror flick and even from a technical stand-point it makes a mark compared to other short films. Definitely worth a watch!..
