‘Chautha’ ceremony of veteran filmmaker Madan   Mohla and Manoj Kumar starrer film ‘Dus Numbri’ famed  director  held at Mumbai

 

Mumbai: ‘Chautha’ ceremony of veteran filmmaker Madan Mohla was held on Monday 24 September 2018 at Shankha Hall in ISCKON, Juhu in the evening. Many stalwarts and celebrities like actor Aftab Shivdasani,Anup Soni,Juhi Babbar,Ashoke Pandit, Actress Bindu Akhilesh Pandey & Many producers & Directors were present on the occasion to offer their heartfelt condolences to the departed soul and the bereaved families.

                Madan Mohla sufferred brain stroke and went  into a state of coma and expired on Friday 21 September 2018. He was 82 years old and is survived by his wife Shreshta Mohla, two sons Ankush and Ashutosh, one daughter Annapurna, son in law Diwakar, daughter-in-law Smita Bansal (w/o Ankush), who is a well-known television actress and daughter in law Renu Ashu Mohla.

                 Born in Chiniot in Pakistan on 30th September 1936, the celebrated filmmaker Madan Mohla came to Mumbai with his father Jai Gopal Mohla who has made films like “Ehsaan”  “Insaan” SENAPATI. Madan Sahab was called as ‘Maddiji’. He had assisted Nanabhai Bhatt (father of Mahesh Bhatt) in his hey days too. He has achieved magnificent feat by producing 4 Silver Jubilee hits in a row in the late 70s with films like “Aasra”, “Sharafat”, “Raja Jaani” and “Dus Numbri”, which he even directed it.  “Samrat”, “HUMLA” and “Chhupa Rustom” were his last outings under their home banner ‘Seven Arts Pictures’.

           His brothers Pradyuman, Balam and Narpendranath too had their share in films; whilst both the former ones produced “Janwar” and “Indira” respectively  while the latter directed “Indira” and “Chakori”.Madan Mohla’s demise has induced a vacant space in the family and the film industry folks and will be truly missing his kind and sincere presence.
