Dhanush’s “Fakir” does an extraordinary business in Hong Kong CineEye, October 9, 2018September 26, 2019 Dhanush-starrer The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir seems to be enjoying quite an extraordinary journey. After a week of exhibition in Hong Kong, the film has been experiencing exceptional turnout. It is safe to say that their initial objective will already be achieved in the first weekend. In a competitive market, against new releases such as Call Me by your Name and Ghostland, the film has outperformed and stayed on top of the Box-office. In the Unifrance reports, The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir holds the second position for 2018 in the top French Films (major/minor production). It looks like the film is going to do incredibly well in China as well. Although Hong Kong and China Mainland audiences are very different, it is still a good indicator in terms of potential box-office results for the China release too. The film is based on the novel of “The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir who got trapped in an IKEA wardrobe” by Romain Puertolas. “The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir,” directed by Ken Scott, stars Indian actor Dhanush and notable actors from across the globe like Berenice Bejo (Academy Award Nominee, “The Artiste”), Erin Moriarty (“Blood Father”), Barkhad Abdi (Academy Award Nominee, “Captain Philips”) and renowned French actor Gerard Jugnot. The film is produced by Brio Films, Vamonos Films, M! Capital Ventures, Little Red Car Films, Impact Films and Scope Pictures. Co-produced by TF1 Studio and Aleph Motion Pictures. Film News
