Rohena Gera’s Sir titled as ‘Audience Favorite’ in US film fest CineEye, October 17, 2018September 26, 2019 Writer-director Rohena Gera’s Sir has achieved much success. With theatrical releases coming up in more than 20 countries, screenings at festivals such as the prestigious Cannes film festival and Zurich Film Festival, here is one more feather in Rohena’s hat. The film has been selected as the audience favourite at its US premiere at the prestigious Mill Valley film festival. Sir was titled the World Cinema (Indie) Audience Favorite (Gold). “The audience response at the festival left me speechless. I am so grateful for their enthusiasm and support… I really believe that audiences can define the fate of a film,” says an ecstatic Rohena, adding, “I keep saying that I made the film for India, so seeing that it is connecting to audiences around the world is really moving. But still, I just can’t wait for the Indian premiere and to talk to the first Indian audiences to see how they feel” The film was featured in the WORLD cinema section of the festival which had over 40 films from around the world such as Oscar-winner Asghar Farhadi’s Everybody Knows, Cannes Palme d’Or winning Shoplifters and Oscar-winning director Alfonso Cuaron’s Roma.
