Namaste England Review: The leads are strong, but the narrative is weak.

Chirag Shah, October 19, 2018September 26, 2019

“Namaste England” is not a sequel of “Namaste London”, however perhaps one can say that the theme is similar, which is why a similar name has been given. Once again directed by Vipul Amrutlal Shah. Clearly he is very fascinated with the idea of Indians g
oing abroad, however he seems to have exhausted all fresh possibility and themes. First, let’s get into the story.

When Param (Kapoor) meets Jasmeet (Chopra), they fall in love and quickly get married. Their romance, however, gets hampered when Jasmeet insists on going to London to pursue her ambitions. They decide to move to London, leaving their comfortable life in Punjab. The story is redundant, but there are interesting moments in the film which give it a fresh twist. However, this is not denying the fact that the screenplay is the weakest part of the film. There are many holes and it drags unnecessarily.

However, the flawed screenplay is slightly made up by other aspects of the film.  Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra give a sincere performance, and their chemistry is one to be noted. They make the film worth watching. The cinematography is splendid and brings out the grandeur are elegance of England. It looks fresh and that is another plus. The editing could have been crisper. The songs are enjoyable, but don’t have much recall value. However, regardless of all this, the film could have been much more if the writing was stronger.

Overall “Namaste London” is a one-time watch, but don’t expect something too memorable.

Rating 3 out of 5 stars.
