Varsha Usgaonkar and Kishori Shahane comes together once again to create a havoc with “Piano For Sale”

CineEye, December 5, 2018September 26, 2019

Well known Marathi stalwarts Varsha Usgaonkar and Kishori Shahane comes together once again to create a havoc with “Piano For Sale” in Maharashtra. This play was preimered on 30th november  and is running to pack houses in whole Maharashtra.

Presented by Chaitanya Akolkar and Creation of Digital Detox, “Piano for sale” is a two act play originally written by Meher Pestonji. Mr Ashish Kulkarni is the writer and director of this play. The music is composed by Mukesh Parmar and Yogesh Khadikar.
Two seasoned Marathi actors- Kishori Shahane Vij and Varsha Usgaonker – have come together in the roles as Sheila and Anita respectively- appearing for the first time on the stage. The conflict of emotion and intellectuality between the two characters, their emotional ups and downs and unknowingly created envy between the two characters has reached the highest point. Their past was connected with a common person and suddenly his appearance in future creates excellent “jugalbandi” of dialogues which increases the curiosity of the audience throughout the play.
“The piano is a third visible actor in this play as it brings these two extremely diverse women together and forces these women into a position of introspection in their present life. The music, with its palpable presence, is more than a mere soundtrack of the play; it is a soundtrack to the lives of the characters.
The effectiveness of stage costume, stage decoration and the light system based on scene and dialogues put the drama on top of everything and it also fulfil the expectations of the audience. One must watch such a powerpack play at least once.
