Shreyas Talpade completes a decade of versatility as an actor

Mumbai: It is a known fact that Shreyas Talpade is a versatile actor who has the skillful ability to adapt and essay any character in a film with utmost ease and finesse. The prolific actor whose career spans over a decade in the Indian film industry has been a part of films ranging in its genres having featured in diverse roles. This time too, the actor is set to be seen in a completely different avatar in the upcoming thriller film ‘Setters’. The film which has been directed by Ashwini Chaudhary and produced by Vikash Mani will see Shreyas explore the serious genre after a long time.

Being stereotyped in a specific genre has been synonymous with actors in the Indian film industry. However, Shreyas who has excelled in the comedy genre space has time and again experimented with different kind of roles across genres. Be it comedy, drama, thriller or action and adventure, he has essayed some of the most notable characters and has succeeded in doing justice to each of them.

Shreyas made his Bollywood debut in Nagesh Kukunoor’s 2005 film ‘Iqbal’ where he played the role of a deaf and mute youngster aspiring to be a cricketer for the Indian national team. His sincere performance was well received and lauded by both, the critics and audiences and earned him a place in the film industry. He also bagged multiple awards for his effortless performance in the film.

In the 2006 drama film ‘Dor’ directed by Nagesh Kukunoor, Shreyas played the character of Behroopiya, a multi-faceted personality. The film was critically acclaimed with Shreyas’ performance being called amusing and pleasantly entertaining.

Shreyas became part of the ‘Golmaal’ film series with the 2008 comedy film ‘Golmaal Returns’ directed by Rohit Shetty. Shreyas plays the role of Laxman in the second installment of the ‘Golmaal’ franchise and won hearts with his impeccable comic timing, also winning a Filmfare Best Supporting Actor nomination that year.

The first ever Marathi superhero action-adventure film ‘Baji’ (2015) in which Shreyas plays the role of the titular character Baji. Baji is known to guard and protect the people in his village and restore justice. For the first time, Shreyas played an action superhero character and was lauded by critics and audiences for his performance.

Shreyas who has carved a niche and been a part of serious performance oriented roles has emerged as one of the most reliable and bankable actors. He will soon be seen in the film ‘Setters’ which is currently on floors and features Aftab Shivdasani, Sonnalli Seygall, Ishita Dutta, Pavan Malhotra, Vijay Raaz,

Jameel Khan and Manu Rishi in pivotal roles and will also be seen alongside Bidita Bag in a slice-of-life light-hearted family entertainer titled ‘Teen Do Paanch’ next year.
