Adah Sharma has thanked fans for making The Kerala Story trend and for watching the film. The Sudipto Sen movie has been facing criticism.

Adah Sharma, who plays one of the lead characters in The Kerala Story, has thanked ‘crores’ of people for watching the film and making it trend. Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, she also thanked those who loved her performance. Adah also shared a picture of herself from the film in which she wore a saffron dress and a garland around her neck. Adah Sharma has thanked fans for making The Kerala Story trend.

The actor wrote, “Thank you to all the crores of you who are going to watch our film, thank you for making it trend, thank you for loving my performance. This weekend the 12th #TheKeralaStory releases internationally in 37 countries (or more) (red heart emojis) #adahsharma.”

Reacting to the tweet, a person wrote, “Congratulations, you did justice to the role.” A comment read, “It’s already superhit. All big actors are stunned and big lesson to learn for Bollywood. The whole team of #TheKeralStory has shown great courage to bring reality in the public domain.” A Twitter user said, “I turned your forever fan after watching Kerala story, what amazing acting skills you have! Just FAB!!”

Amid calls for a ban and criticism that The Kerala Story has been facing, Adah shared a tweet on Tuesday. She wrote, “Sometimes the most unlikely person can alter the course of history #TheKeralaStory.”

Earlier, she had tweeted, “And for the few still calling #TheKeralaStory a propaganda film, saying these incidents do not exist even after watching testimonials of several Indian victims…my humble request, Google two words ISIS and Brides…maybe an account of white girls narrated to you might make you feel that our Indian movie is real.”

The Kerala Story released in cinemas on May 5. Directed by Sudipto Sen, the film has been produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah. The Kerala Story stars Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Siddhi Idnani and Sonia Balani in the lead roles.

The trailer of the film came under fire as it claimed that 32,000 girls from Kerala state went missing and later joined ISIS. Faced with backlash the makers then withdrew the figure and called the movie the story of three women from Kerala, in its trailer description.

On May 8, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee ordered an immediate ban on the screening of the film in the state to avoid “any incident of hatred and violence”.
