Ganapath box office collection day 6: Tiger Shroff’s Rs 200 crore film has barely minted Rs 10 crore in India CineEye, October 26, 2023 Ganapath: A Hero Is Born, starring Tiger Shroff, Kriti Sanon, and Amitabh Bachchan in pivotal roles, was released in theatres last Friday. The movie had a slow start, making only 2.50 crore on its opening day, which is Tiger’s lowest opening so far. Since its release, it has been minting between Rs 1 crore to Rs 2.5 crore each day. On Wednesday, it earned Rs 1.10 crore, bringing its total nett collection in India to Rs 10.90 crore. Ganapath brings Tiger and Kriti back together on screen after their debut film, Heropanti, which was released in 2014. The film is written and directed by Vikas Bahl and is reportedly said to have been made with a budget of Rs 200 crore. The movie was promoted as an action-packed adventure in a dystopian world, and since it was released close to Dussehra, it could have been a big crowd-puller. The film also stars Elli AvrRam, Rahman, Ziad Bakri, Jess Liaudin, Jameel Khan, Gauahar Khan, Girish Kulkarni, Shruthy Menon, and Brahim Chab, among others. In the film, Tiger plays the role of Guddu, who becomes the hero Ganapath and sets off on a brave mission. Talking about the film, the director had said in an interview, “The only reason the film is set in the future is because it’s a hypothetical situation, which I think can happen in the near future. And within that world is the journey of the character. So it is a character journey within the eventuality of a calamity. In that sense, while it’s futuristic, it’s still familiar for me. But the genre of future and action is very different. I want to keep breaking genres.” Indian Express film critic Shubhra Gupta gave the film one star and called the film terrible. A part of the review read, “What comes as a surprise is just how terrible this film is, with practically no redeeming feature in its nearly two and half hours run-time. The Fighting-Dancing Tiger, chest gleaming and bronzed, working hard both in the ring and the dance floor, can’t do a thing to stop our eyes from glazing over from this relentless rinse-and-repeat.” This is Tiger’s second dud in a row, after Heropanti 2. Kriti last starred in the monumental misfire Adipurush. BREAKING News Film News
