Sanjay Dutt’s spontaneity and humility touches you, says Farhad Samji

Farhad Samji’s friendship with actor Sanjay Dutt dates back to as early as 2001, when the writer-director had created a song for his film Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin (2002). Farhad also collaborated with the actor in other films including Munna Bhai MBBS (2003) and Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006) and their bond only because stronger with each passing day. Now, Farhad has again composed a song for Prassthanam, starring Sanjay Dutt.

“Baba (Sanjay’s nickname) is like family and is always there to guide me. So working with him every time is special. The title track that I have written and composed for him in Prassthanam goes with the narrative as it describes that story’s entire philosophy. The song in a way develops the mood of the film,” he says.

Farhad shared its Sanjay’s spontaneity that he likes the most. “Whenever he is happy you see it on his face, much like when he is sad. He is generous and his humility touches you. When he heard the song for the first time, he was very happy and got very excited and said it is totally going with the film. He then asked when should we record the song and what help do we need from him, etc,” he adds.

Apart from this song, the writer – director is also helming Housefull 4 and has written the dialogues of Rohit Shetty’s latest release, Simmba. “Housefull 4 is almost done and the film will be out soon. I hope that the audience will enjoy the dialogues of Simmba,” he adds.
