Manisha Koirala opens up about her bond with Prasthanam co-star Sanjay Dutt

Manisha Koirala, the actress who left the world enchanted with her infectious smile, is back on the silver screen with the political drama, Prasthanam. Manisha Koirala, who was last seen in Sanjay Dutt’s biopic, Sanju, where she played the role of mother his mother Nargis, is all set to play his wife in the upcoming film Prassthanam. Produced under the banner Sanjay S. Dutt Productions, the film has been creating buzz ever since the release of its trailer.

Manisha Koirala has been sharing a good rapport with Sanjay Dutt for more than two decades. the actress recently revealed the bond she shared with the actor. Manisha said to her spokesperson: “I became a big fan of Baba after watching Rocky and even had his posters up in my room. It was a fan-girl moment when I first worked with him, but over the years we have become good friends. I have seen him go through his ups and downs in life, and whenever I have a problem, I just have to tell him. A few days later, he will call to ask, ‘Manya, sab theek ho gaya na?’ We are very comfortable with each other now.

On signing the Prassthanam, the actress added: “Maanayata Ji (Sanjay’s wife) is producing the film, and I can’t say ‘no’ to Baba and her.” In fact, speaking of the film, the director said in an interview with IANS at the trailer launch: “I have been a huge fan of Jackie sir and Sanjay since the days of ‘Hero’ and ‘Khalnayak’. With this film, there was a certain cast that I had fixed in my head and I was clear that if I didn’t get this cast, then I wouldn’t want this film to happen. Fortunately, it all came together and it is looking extraordinary.”

Manisha Koirala started her Bollywood journey with Saudagar in 1991, and later, she was seen in the films like 1942: A Love Story, Bombay, Akele Hum Akele Tum, Khamoshi: The Musical, Gupt: The Hidden Truth, Dil Se.. and Mann. Her charm faded after projects like Jaani Dushman: Ek Anokhi Kahani, Ek Chhotisi Love Story, Paisa Vasool and Dear Maya. Manisha was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2012. She gave words to her journey of coming out as a survivor with “Healed: How Cancer Gave Me a New Life”.

Directed by Deva Katta, Sanjay S Dutt’s presents, produced by Maanayata Dutt, Prassthanam stars Sanjay S. Dutt, Manisha Koirala, Jackie Shroff, Chunky Panday, Ali Fazal, Amyra Dastur and Satyajeet Dubey. The film releases on 20th September 2019.
